PTWC issues final threat assessment
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said the tsunami threat from the October 24 Vanuatu earthquake had passed. Its final bulletin listed a preliminary magnitude of 6.9 and said minor sea-level fluctuations could still occur in nearby coastal areas over the following hours. National authorities remain responsible for determining their countries’ alert levels, so the regional assessment does not itself establish each country’s alert status.
