Justice Department asks EU court to admit the United States as an intervenor
The US Justice Department applied to intervene in X and Elon Musk’s cases seeking annulment of the European Commission’s €120 million Digital Services Act penalty. The Commission said it would continue defending the decision, which concerned X’s transparency practices. The filing gives Washington a route to present arguments about jurisdiction and corporate liability if the EU General Court admits it; it does not suspend, reduce or overturn the fine. The court must first determine whether the United States has a sufficient interest to participate, then separately decide the underlying challenges.
