Reports now put the toll from Typhoon Dujuan at four deaths and six people missing across Chiba and Kanagawa prefectures. Kyodo reported that Chiba announced two additional deaths, bringing its total to three, alongside one death in Kanagawa; two people were missing in Chiba and four in Kanagawa. NHK now reports that landslides associated with Typhoon Dujuan killed two people and left four missing, updating earlier provisional and differing official counts. Level 5 warning issued for Oshima, then downgraded

Chiba orders evacuations as Shinjuku raises its landslide warning
Tokyo’s Shinjuku Ward said a level-4 landslide-danger warning was issued at 15:44 JST on September 21, following a level-3 heavy-rain warning at 15:32. Voluntary shelters remained open, although the ward listed no district-specific evacuation order. Separately, Chiba City issued level-4 evacuation instructions at 01:19 JST for areas exposed to flooding or landslides, covering 150,526 residents in 31,014 households. Heavy rain and flood warnings issued near Tokyo
Typhoon Dujuan was approaching Japan’s Pacific coast, with the Japan Meteorological Agency forecasting that it would pass near the Tokyo metropolitan area later September 21. The agency warned that intensifying rain and strong winds could increase flooding and landslide risks across the Kanto region and other parts of eastern Japan.
