Taiwanese Labor Minister Hung Sun-han flew to Nanjing on September 20 for an APEC human-resources ministerial meeting, becoming the first Cabinet official in President Lai Ching-te’s administration to visit China. Taiwan participates in APEC as “Chinese Taipei,” making the forum one of the limited settings for official participation when Beijing hosts meetings. Cabinet-level interaction has been rare since 2016. Taiwan’s Labor Ministry confirmed the trip, but the retrieved reporting established no bilateral meeting or agreement.
