Provisional toll reported; replacement transport arranged
Castilla-La Mancha’s president reported a provisional toll of 68 deaths after two high-speed trains collided near Urda, Toledo, on October 28, EFE reported. Renfe says high-speed services between Madrid, Ciudad Real and Andalusia remain interrupted. It has introduced conventional trains connecting Madrid, Ciudad Real and Puertollano, adding approximately 90 minutes to journeys. A broader Madrid–Andalusia replacement plan is scheduled to begin October 30; its routes and timetables were still being finalized in Renfe’s statement.
