Crew counts and locations distinguish the two vessels

Five sailors from Wine Trader had been rescued and seven remained missing, Romanian authorities reported October 15 after drone strikes on two tankers near Sulina. Radio România Constanța reported that large waves were hampering the search. Reuters placed Wine Trader just outside Romanian territorial waters and the second tanker, Yara J, inside them; everyone aboard Yara J was safe. President Nicusor Dan confirmed drone strikes without identifying responsibility. Reuters attributed the assessment that the drones came from Russia to an unnamed NATO military source. The vessels were near the Sulina canal, which connects the Black Sea with a Danube export route used by Ukraine.
