AI investment cushions 2026 growth while inflation risks increase
The OECD raised its 2026 global growth forecast to 2.9%, from 2.8% in June, while lowering its 2027 projection to 3.0% from 3.1%. It attributed some near-term resilience to spending on data centres, semiconductors and other AI infrastructure, alongside technology exports from Japan and South Korea. The organization expects persistent commodity costs to weigh more heavily next year and increased its G20 inflation forecasts to 4.1% for 2026 and 3.6% for 2027. These are baseline projections, not measured outcomes.
