Cabinet sworn in; parliamentary confidence remains pending
King Mohammed VI appointed and swore in Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri’s cabinet on October 16, Morocco’s official portal confirmed. El Mansouri, the country’s first woman head of government, had already been designated on September 29. Fouzi Lekjaa takes the finance portfolio, while the foreign and interior ministers retain their posts. Le360 reports that parliamentary confidence remains pending. Under Article 88 of the constitution, the government must present its programme to Parliament and secure approval from an absolute majority of the House of Representatives for formal investiture. The cabinet appointment and parliamentary approval are therefore separate steps.
