Seven arrested; precautionary venue closures reported
Kolkata police have arrested seven people, including festival organisers, PTI reported on October 18, citing a senior officer. The officer said they were among 14 people detained the previous night. At least 19 people died and 25 were injured in the October 17 evening crowd crush at the Chorebagan Durga Puja pavilion. The Indian Express separately reported precautionary closures to visitors at other festival venues, including Suruchi Sangha and Chetla Agrani; Tala Prattoy also announced a closure until further notice. The arrests are an investigative development and do not establish responsibility for the crush.
