Network repaired and capacity restrictions lifted
ENAV restored its full air traffic management capacity on October 16 after repairing the nationwide data transmission network supporting its control services, the company said. Restrictions imposed earlier that morning were lifted. Reuters reported that Cirium had counted 192 flight cancellations by about 10:00 UTC, before the restoration announcement. ENAV said alternative transmission systems had maintained air traffic control services during the disruption and traffic was progressively returning to normal. The restoration concerns controller capacity; it does not establish that every delayed or cancelled flight’s schedule had recovered.
