Projections leave coalition formation unresolved
Exit polls following Israel’s October 27 election projected neither Benjamin Netanyahu’s bloc nor Gadi Eisenkot’s opposition bloc reaching the 61 seats needed for a majority in the 120-seat Knesset, Reuters reported. Kan 11 and Channel 13 placed the blocs level; Channel 12 gave Netanyahu’s camp a narrow lead. These are projections, not final results. A projected lead therefore does not establish sufficient parliamentary support to govern. Arab-led parties outside the two blocs could influence coalition formation, but Reuters reported that Eisenkot had largely ruled out governing with them, complicating his options. The timestamp records Reuters’ publication, not when the projections were issued.
