Hurricane Trudy weakened on October 16, Reuters reported, and the National Hurricane Center estimated sustained winds of 90 mph at midnight CST on October 17. Its center was about 240 miles south-southeast of Manzanillo. Hurricane warnings remained in effect from Manzanillo northward to Cabo Corrientes. The latest wind estimate is below Trudy’s earlier Category 3 strength reported by Reuters, but the coastal warnings continue: the NHC expected hurricane conditions within the warning area Saturday night. Its forecast placed the center near Mexico’s coast Saturday night into Sunday, with some strengthening possible during Saturday.
