Network disruption and civilian movement deepen the renewed conflict
Internet service was disrupted across parts of northern Ethiopia on Friday as fighting intensified between federal forces and Tigrayan fighters. AP reported that roads linking Tigray with Afar were said to be closed to civilian traffic, though it could not independently verify the closures; a humanitarian worker reported people fleeing into Afar. NetBlocks separately detected a regional internet disruption but did not establish its cause. The developments follow the seizure of three regional airports and fighting extending beyond Tigray, which the UN reported earlier in the week.
