Outlets seek temporary court order restoring revoked credentials
CNN, MS NOW and Politico filed a federal lawsuit September 21 seeking restoration of White House access and a temporary restraining order. Their reporters’ credentials were deactivated after President Donald Trump said he was barring the organizations because he objected to their coverage. The outlets allege that the restrictions constitute viewpoint discrimination and violate First Amendment and due-process protections. The administration maintains that White House access is a privilege and says the outlets can continue reporting without access to the grounds. A judge scheduled a Wednesday hearing and ordered an administration response by Tuesday; no ruling has been issued.
