Official reports deaths; medical charity confirms treating wounded patients
Abyei's caretaker information minister, Yohana Akol Ngor, reported at least 73 deaths in an October 19 drone attack on Amiet Common Market, Reuters reported. Radio Tamazuj also attributed that toll to Ngor; the two accounts therefore do not independently corroborate the number. Ngor accused Sudan's army, but Reuters said he supplied no evidence for that attribution. Separately, Médecins Sans Frontières said it was treating more than 20 wounded people at Ameth Bek Hospital, according to Reuters. That medical account documents injuries without independently confirming the death toll. Radio Tamazuj describes the market as serving the Ngok Dinka and Misseriya communities and people displaced by Sudan's war.
